Dota 2 Heroes Spotlight: Traxex the Drow Ranger
Introduction
Defense of the Ancients (Dota) 2 has a range of formidable female heroes, but Traxex the Drow Ranger is arguably the deadliest of them all. A ranged-carry hero in nature, it does not require a lot of quick finger-reflexes to play and even dominate with Drow
Ranger.
Like all other heroes, she does have her share of drawbacks, the most notable of which is her frailness. However, her ability to kite effectively because of the skills at her disposal as well as her auto-range of 625 more than makes up for this weakness
and allows her to wreck havoc on the battlefield.
Frost Arrows
Frost Arrows is Drow Ranger’s first skill. It is a toggle-able orb ability that allows her to reduce the movement as well as attack speed of her target by applying freezing effect on them. At its maximum level, the arrows bring down the movement speed by
50 percent for 1.5 seconds if the target is an enemy hero, or seven seconds if the target is an enemy or neutral creep. The effect does not stack, but that is not a problem as it can be reapplied by hitting the target with the Frost Arrows again, which simply
resets the time duration. The skill is an excellent tool for harassment as well as preventing foes from feeling to safety. The effectiveness of Frost Arrows becomes even prominent if there is an ally target aiding her in hitting the target with the intent
to kill.
Silence
Traxex’s second ability is named Silence and the skill does exactly what the name suggests, it silences enemies. When used, Silence will cause all enemy units within a 275 Area of Effect (AoE) to have their ability to cast spells disabled for a short duration.
The silence lasts for as much as six seconds when the skill is levelled up to the max. One thing to note here is that Silence also disables permanent invisibility from units for the duration of its effect. Yes you guessed it right, the skill will take its
toll on Rikimaru, keeping him revealed for seven seconds.
Silence is a great team-battle skill and enables Drow Ranger to tilt the scales significantly in the favour of her team by keeping the enemy team from casting spells or performing combos, which can be crucial to the fate of the fight.
Trueshot Aura
Trueshot Aura is Drow Ranger’s third skill. When levelled up, it allows her to deal an extra bit of damage to her targets. Furthermore, it also increases the damage of any ranged ally within a 900 AoE range of her. At its highest level, Trueshot Aura increases
the base damage of Drow Ranger as well as her ranged allies by up to 28 percent. The damage increase allows her to last-hit creeps in the early stages of the game, while becoming even more notable during the later part of the game.
Marksmanship
Traxex’s ultimate Marksmanship is a unique and at the same time pretty simple passive skill, giving her a permanent agility boost at each level. At its maximum level, the ultimate gives Drow Ranger extra 45 agility. This agility boost does a number of things,
each of which is equally crucial to her success as a carry. The extra bit of agility increases her damage by the same amount because of it being her primary attribute. Additionally, it will also increase her physical armour by 6.4 and increase her attack speed
by 45 at its highest level.
Drow Ranger may be frail, but her excellent farming skills allow her to curb this issue by allowing her to quickly farm up items. If survivability is still an issue for some players, then it is best to rush Lothar’s Edge, an item that boosts certain stats
and gives the ability to wind-walk, i..e become invisible, for a significant amount of time, thus allowing her to escape imminent death or even surprise her enemies with a sneak attack.
