Double Mead aims to down the victory in the Gg.com Hunters´ Chase on 8th April, 2012
Towcester will host the Gg.com Hunters´ Chase on 8th April, 2012. The 14 runners will be competing over 2 miles and 110 yards for £988 on a surface that has been labelled good.
Double Mead, daughter of Double Trigger, out of mare Normead Lass, has shown remarkable improvement this season.
She finished in seventh place in the last race of her previous reason in a line-up of ten runners.
She was mounted by jockey, Mrs. Alex Dunn, in the Aga Ladies Open Point-To-Point Championship Final (Hunters' Chase For Lady Riders ) at Cheltenham on 4th May, 2011.
Trained by Mrs. Alex Dunn, for owner, Mrs. K.R Smith-Maxwell, she landed a second place finish in the Chase Meredith Memorial Trophy (Hunters' Chase) at Ludlow on 1st March, 2012. She raced with odds of 3 to 1, but was defeated by race favourite,
Divine Intavention, by 3 lengths.
Castle Banquet, owned by K. Hutsby, is under the training of F.A Hutsby. Under his training, the nine-year-old gelding is performed in an impressive manner. He will be returning after a long layoff as he last competed in 2008, almost four years ago.
He stood second in the  5yo+ Adjacent Maiden at Belclare on 16th March, 2008, where he was the mount for J.T McNamara. He lost the victory to Blue Raven by 6 lengths.
The son of  Presenting, out of mare Kyle Na Leath, acquired a placed position in the following race, the 5yo Geldings Maiden (Div 1) at Roscommon p-to-p course on 13th April, 2008 as he finished in third place.
Bellosguardo will also be competing after a long break.
The nine-year-old gelding last competed in the Prix De Bas Pays at Montauban on 31st May, 2009, where he landed as a runner-up and fell two lengths short of the victory.
The son of Medicean, out of mare Barsham, is currently trained by Miss Chloe Boxall.
He was trained by D.Henderson until 01 Apr, 2012 for owner, Miss Jo Ewell.
It is difficult to say who will take this race but  Double Mead looks like she has the strongest prospects of winning. Bellosguardo might finish closely behind as a runner-up whereas Castle Banquet might finish third.
