  1. Metric ride = 100 kilometers

    Double Metric = 200 kilometers

    200K = about 124 miles.

    10 kilometers = 6.2 miles

    Longest I ever rode was 107 miles.  Then rode 86 miles the next day.

  2. Double metric refers to a double metric century, which is 200km or about 124 miles.

  3. OOoohhwwh -- double metrics?!?!? BREVETs!!!

  4. 200 Kilometers

    Metric referring to Kilometers vs. the "Century" designation being often given to 100 Statute miles.

    Remember something - double metric is a long way for just about anyone.  Before you endeavor to do this, make sure you have looked carefully at the ride profile (elevation changes, etc...) so you can compare one "double metric" against another.  Organized events (and I'm assuming this is one as well) can vary in difficulty from pancake-flat to terribly hilly.  Please see this one as an example of one that is by no means flat.  http://www.summersolsticecentury.org/  It is 200K, but with over 13,000 feet of climbing, it's a very strenuous day in the saddle.  Add to that the fact that it's in June when it's starting to get hot and you have a recipe for a king-sized bonk if you're not prepared.

    There are other events that run over flat roads, and while 200K is still a long way, they would be considerably less strenuous.
