Double Olympic champion Megan Jendrick wants to make a comeback in competitive swimming
Double Olympic champion, Megan Jendrick of the United States of America, announced today, on June 23, that she might make a comeback in competitive swimming. The athlete is expected to give birth to her first child, this fall.
Jendrick is a competitive and dedicated swimmer of the US in the breast-stroke style category. She has won many important swimming titles for her country in a number of international events.
Megan Jendrick took home the golden crown in the Women’s 100m breast-stroke finals, along with the 4x100m Medley title at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. In the 2008 edition of the Olympic Games, she nabbed the silver medal in the Women’s 4x10m Medley
Relay in Beijing.
The American swimmer won two silver medals in the Women’s 4x100m medley relay and 200m breast-stroke races at the 2007 World Championships in Fukuoka. Moreover, she secured three gold titles in the Women’s 50m, 100m breast-stroke and 4x100m medley finals
at the 2005 Summer Universiade in Izmir. She also clinched the gold medal in the Women’s 4x100m medley finale in the 1999 Pan Pacific Championships in Sydney.
While speaking about her comeback in competitive swimming, Jendrick said that she has been paying close attention to train herself again for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. She claimed that Dara Torres, Amanda Beard and Rebecca Soni are the hot
favourite swimmers according to her, who will win medals at the London 2012 Olympics.
They have won many unique titles in swimming for their country, so far. So, she will be keeping an eye of her role models in that mega Olympic event in London.
On the other hand, Jendrick deems that she needs to improve her speed and stamina persistently in swimming. These two building blocks are absolutely pivotal for her to attain best results for herself, at the 2012 Olympic campaign.
Meanwhile, Soni, Beard and Torres are looking really determined for their next world championship campaign in Shanghai. The world championship is scheduled to be held in Shanghai from July 16-31, 2011.
