  2. you should check out derek roddy on youtube.  he's super sick.  also, practice by doing eight strokes to a hand (do 8 with your right and then eight with your left), concentrating on using your wrists as well as your fingers.  this exercise is called "eight on a hand" by many people.  make sure the stick is working for you.  by this i mean when the stick hits the head (or practice pad) you let it rebound up off the head instead of picking it up with your hand.  start this exercise out slow and then pick up the speed once you start getting a good rebound.  everything should be started slow and then speed it up as everything is even and in it's place as far as rhythm goes.  and use a metronome if you have one.  if not, then i say go out and get one because a drummer's focus and job is to be the clock no matter what style of music you're playing.   check out basic marching drum exercises.  those are good to build up speed on your hands.  youtube has just about anything you could want to work on.  but check out derek roddy's vids on there.  if you're into blasting then i'm sure you already know who he is.  just keep rockin' and learn as much as you can.

  3. Position you cymbal pedal next to the closest bass petal. So when alternating. You'll get a cleaner swap. If you practice away from the set with a visual in your mind when you sit down to the set you'll be more equipt to play a higher skill level. I tried it on my Percussionist in my orchestra . (they rule) (I'm a 13 yr old orchestra conductor). If you can get your playing visualized away from the set you can get way better skills. Hope I helped.
