Double bypass surgery?

i don't know if i want to know the answer to this but how safe is a double bypass for a asthmatic, diabetic 60 yr old? thanx

  1. i would say safer than letting your arteries continue to clog with plaques and dying from a massive heart attack


  2. I would suggest you ask your doctor and then get a second opinion. People on this Q and A are probably not qualified to answer this question. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor some tough questions like:

    1. What kind of risk does having this surgery pose to me?

    2. How many patients have you done this surgery on and how many were also diabetic, asthmatic and 60?

    3. What were the results of your past bypass surgeries?

    If he or she has never operated on someone with your added health issues I would strongly suggest you find another doctor. Then again if you need the bypass you may not have much choice in the matter. In that case...go for it and trust God to guide your surgeon and heal your heart! God Bless and I hope all goes well.
