Double-centurion Kallis wants to win the Cape Town Test - Cricket News Update

The prolific middle-order batsman of South Africa, Jacques Kallis, who scored his second double century on the second day of the final Test against Sri Lanka, is now looking forward to a series-clinching victory.

The three-match Test series between South Africa and Sri Lanka is tied 1-1 with the third and the last five-dayer underway in Cape Town since Tuesday, January 3, 2012, and the team winning this match would ultimately seal the series in its name. Jacques
Kallis, after providing his side an edge in the Test with an astounding 224, now wants the side to register its first Test series win at home in three years.

After losing the second Test miserably due to a poor batting show, the hosts made a strong comeback in the series decider. After opting to bat first, the South African top order was simply outstanding with three of the top five batsmen scoring painstaking
centuries as the hosts declared their first innings at a mammoth total of 580 for 4. Opener Alviro Petersen scored 109 while AB de Villiers hit an unbeaten 160 to help the side amass the colossal first innings total.

Kallis said that this was the best chance to break the jinx and urged for some big performances from the bowlers.

"With the series being one-all, we needed some big performances," said Kallis speaking to the media at the day end press conference on Wednesday.

"It's going to be tough (to win) but there is some uneven bounce and Immy (Tahir) has turned one or two and it's only day two,” he added further.

The Proteas have not won a single Test series in South Africa since 2008. Their last Test series victory at home was against Bangladesh and since then they have been struggling. Graeme Smith’s brigade has lost all of its past three Test series played against
Australia, England and India.

At stumps on day two, Sri Lanka were struggling at 149 for 2 and Kallis hoped the bowlers would complement the remarkable batting show.

"We batted at a good rate so we've given ourselves some extra time to try and bowl them out twice. It would have been nice to pick up one extra wicket tonight but we're very happy with the situation. The guys believe we can get 20 wickets," said the all-rounder.
