Question:

Double charged on a purchase from the Redskins official online store?

I recently bought a jersey (with a debit card) for just over $120 from the Washington Redskins official store (redskins.com), after saving up all summer.

I checked my BOA online account a day after buying it, and sure enough the charge was there - so far, so good.

Today I recieved a confirmation of shipment email, so I headed over to the Bank of America site to see if the transaction had cleared. Instead, --- there were TWO charges of 123.19, even though my order history on redskins.com shows only ONE purchase: but neither one had cleared, they were both of the 'pending' status---

Luckily I had enough in the account to cover without an overdraft, but my question is, will the second charge disappear in a few days, or will I have to contact my bank and the Redskins organization to fix this?

  1. The good news is they are both pending, so nothing has technically (or legally) happened yet. It could be a legitimate reason, i.e.  the store requested authorization twice and that requested has caused a two “holds.” And, only one will post to your account. If however, you are charged twice, you will need to contact someone to have it refunded. As long as you have a receipt for only one charge.

Contact BOA first and let them know and tell them you want to report the double charge.  They will ask you if you have called the store and recommend you go that route first. Just say ok, but you wanted to let them know. Then contact the store and let them know and they can process your refund. No matter who handles the refund, it will take some time to process so bring your patience.  The store may ask you to provide them a statement showing the charges. If you do be sure to block out your account number. If the store gives you the run around, then you can go back to BOA and explain it to them. They will probably have you complete claim form or affidavit of some sort. Best to do it in a branch and get it notarized right then. The reason I told you to call them first is because legally they have to resolve the claim within a certain time frame and it starts counting from when you first contact them. SO call the bank, then try the store, and if they seem uncooperative, go back to BOA.

Hopefully, they won’t both post and you will be ok. Good luck

  2. Wait until it's done pending. If both of the purchases are still there, print out your statement with the purchases on it and call your bank. Make sure you still have your receipt. They'll either clear it up for you or they'll make you call the Washington Redskins Customer Services Line and talk to them about it.

    Good Luck.

  3. So common with deadskin related stuff.
