Double glazed door trouble?

Double glaze door won't lock when shut, It is alright when its open, We have replaced the barrel but that didn't do anything, we have tried everything, Can anyone suggest anything, Other than replacing the door please

  1. Okay, don't know what type of door or lock you have. Is there a saddle type lug that pops out at the top and bottom of the door? It looks like a tiny saddle. These are prone to breaking inside which can stop the whole door locking. The inside (locking) face of the door should be one piece from top to bottom. This whole piece comes off and you can get a copy from a (good) hardware store. Just cut it to length and refit it in the same position as the old one. They're not expensive about £30 or so.

  3. adjust the cams (on the lock) and the keep (on the frame) loosen the latch plate and check theres a 8mm over lap with the door and the frame if its too much or too less the door wont lock.
