Double murder suicide, Stanford-Le-Hope area. 1980's?

Question

I’m interested to know the events that lead to a double murder and suicide at a family home in the Stanford-Le-Hope or Corringham area of Essex, back in the early to mid eighties. I do remember seeing the report for this crime on the early evening news for the London region, and I can recall being shocked at how a father could murder his two children, then set about his wife “I believe she survived” then kill himself!

If I recall correctly there were two murders in a very short space of time, one was at a dentists in Lampits Hill and the other was in Southend Road in Stanford, the dentits one I beleive was by hammer and the other one, who I actually knew the family, was by the husband after he found out his wife had been sleeping around and he shot them but didnt shoot himself and was later sent to prion for life I beleive, unless there was another one that I cant recal !!!
