Would it be possible for a homeschooler to be double-promoted? What would the requirements be? Are there laws that prohibit this?

  1. in summer school isn't a like a whole school year time like two grades?? why u want to be double promoted

  2. High school doesn't usually work in terms of "promotions" for homeschooling. If you learn the material, you learn the material. It's about what you know, not what grade you are in.

  3. It's not what grade you're in, its what you know that matters.

I know graduating students that think WWII was in 1865.

  4. If the student has done the work and mastered the concepts, they can be promoted.  Homeschoolers are not held to a strict Sept-May schedule; they can work year-round if they like, and they can finish material more quickly if they're able.

Many homeschool kids work above grade level - for example, my 10yo is now starting 6th grade (he's completed both the work and the time requirements for K-5) but is working on high school math and science.  He's in 6th grade language arts (writing, spelling, etc.) and 7th-8th grade history and lit (supplemented with high school work).  His Drama class is integrated grades 6-12, he'll be in a 6th-8th grade Latin class in the fall, and is working on 7th-9th grade Spanish.

Grade levels really don't mean all that much to homeschoolers; the only reason my son even knows what grade he's in is so that he has something to answer when people ask him.

Grade promotion is up to the parents - if the student has completed the requirements, then yes, they can be double promoted.
