  1. Yes, they will react...  And?

    What part of ....

    H2SO4(aq) + Ba(OH)2(s) --> BaSO4(s) + 2HOH(l)

    ... are you having trouble with?

    ========  Follow up ========

    HSO3 + Ba2OH= water and BA2(SO3)2

    What are kids learning these days???

    Sulfuric acid is not HSO3, it's H2SO4

    Barium has a +2 oxidation number, hydroxide is -1

    Therefore Ba(OH)2, and it's pretty insoluble in water.

    Ba is the symbol for barium

    Sulfate ion is SO4^2-, so one Ba2+ and one SO4^2- to make insoluble BaSO4(s).

  2. HSO3 + Ba2OH= water and BA2(SO3)2

  3. H2SO4 + Ba(OH)2 -------  BaSO4 (S) + 2H2O  BaSO4 is insoluble and forms a fine crystalline precipitate . This is also a neutralization reaction
