Doubles head coach Kim Her hopes the duo of Wee Kiong, Hee Chun will shine at All-England
The Malaysian doubles head coach Tan Kim Her hoped that the duo Tan Wee Kiong- Mak Hee Chun will rise and shine in the All-England open.
Kim Her threw a lifeline to the duo by pairing up them again after a year’s gap and the couple Tan-Mak revived their old chemistry in the Selangor Open where they earned a spot in the final last week.
The Malaysian duo has forged a good partnership in the past as they were placed at 21st spot in doubles world rankings but partnership broke last year owing to some misunderstandings.
Kim Her gave them a second chance by putting them together and now he hopes that the duo will prove his decision right by repeating their Selangor Open performance and they will exhibit their prime skills in the All England Open.
The coach said, “They have done well in a local tournament (Selangor Open). It will be more challenging on the international stage but I hope they will rise to the occasion.”
The Malaysian couple Tan Wee Kiong- Mak Hee Chun is starting its expedition from tomorrow by playing qualifying round of All England Open. They are scheduled to face Rasmus Bonde-Anders Kristiansen of Denmark.
The duo will have to surpass their compatriot independent couple Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari also to march into the main round.
The national coach Kim Her urges that they just need to forget their past and look towards future and he seems to be contented as both players showed their old spark in the Selangor Open.
He said, “They now trust each other. They played quite well at the Selangor Open and showed the same hunger that I have seen in the past. They were also quite open and it’s good to note that they are driven by one goal – to revive their careers. The fine
development of Wee Kiong-Hee Chun augurs well for them.”
The coach has given them wings to fly freely but he wants them to soar high in the All England Open along with the other pair Goh V Shem-Teo Kok Siang in the qualifying round.
The Malaysian duo V Shem- Kok Siang is also striving to revive their old chemistry as their partnership cracked with Kok Siang suffering a knee injury last year.
On the other hand, former All England champion Malaysian couple Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong will start their race in main round by playing against the Japanese Naoki Kawamae-Shoji Sato on Wednesday.
