Question:

Doubt concerning industrial piercing

Hi, first of all thank you for your time in answering this question.

I got an industrial piercing in my left ear 4 days ago. The piercer told me to wash it with chamomille, and I already knew that I should clean it with antibacterial soap once or twice a day. I was unable to do these things for the past two days because I went out of town and really had no time to stand in front of a sink and go through this whole process. I came back home and literally just went through the process of cleaning it with q-tips and antibacterial soap. When finishing I noticed the upper part (cartilage) was considerably redder than my other ear, and it's also kinda hot on the touch. When softly putting the tip of my finger in the near-area of this upper piercing, I notice it hurts a bit more than the other (lower) piercing. I gotta confess I got a little panicky, so I want to know if this is normal because I was just fiddling around it with the q-tip, and the piercing is indeed still "new", or should I get really worried? Is the upper piercing going to take a longer time to heal than the lower one?

Thank you in advance!

  1.  Sweetie in my opinion you're totally fine. I got my industrial a few months ago and had similar problems, the reason mine was red and painful was because I was sleeping on it. I went to my piercer when I was having this problem, what she told me was "your ear is upset that you just took a chunk out of it, give it a little while and all will be well", or something like that :). The only thing I would say to do differently would be make sure you don't put any pressure on it, if you're like me you've already hit it like 50 times haha, and the other thing would be be careful with anti-bacterial soap, sometimes it's harsh for your piercing, depending on your body. Stick to the sea salt it's the easiest way to prevent infection and keep from any boils or gross stuff like that. It might be best to just go get it checked out by your piercer, I had to get mine put in two separate gauges because it was giving me gross stuff that we earlier discussed.

I hope this was helpful darlin', sorry for all my run on sentences haha :)
