  1. it means that you can carry 20 KGs per person ...doesn't matter in how many bags or suitcases its devided in ( hand luggage is not counted)

  2. Weight limitations are usually for one bag, that is why in the past when you were over, you could divide the weight between 2 bags and not pay extra.  Unfortunately now, with higher fuel costs most airlines are charging for second bags and sometimes even first checked bag.  You should check with your carrier to see what their fees are and when they are implementing these new charges.  (Some airlines don't start charging until July) As a seasoned traveler, I recommend taking a carry on luggage with wheels (max 22" long) and a regular sized backpack or computer bag.  If you must carry a purse, stuff it into the backpack to reduce the number of bags.  I would avoid checked bags altogether but if you must, limit it to 1 at  20kgs or under.  This way you can avoid extra fees.  Also don't forget about liquid/gel restrictions...Happy travels!

  3. is this a domestic flight (USA) or is international.

the new regulations within the USA you're allowed to 20kg in up to 2 pieces of luggage but you will pay 15 bucks for the first piece that you check in and 35 for the second piece.

please note that if you exceed the 20 kilos then the amount is way higher.

now if the travel includes an international segment then you can definitely bring 2 bags up to 20 kilos. excess of luggage will be paid at the airport as well as over sized pieces of luggage.

you can go to the website of the airline you're flying and they will let you know EXACTLY your baggage limits

    have a nice trip
