  1. yes, on both counts.


  2. A quote is an excellent way to begin a review if the rest of the review is a tie-in and explanation of the quote. don't just throw out a quote without some bearing on your review.  I do not believe it is necessary to include the page number in a book review.

  3. I think it is good to note the page numbers, but you also need to note the book edition, because different editions may have different numbers of pages.

    You can start your writing with a quote from the book. I think review is a kind of creative writing, so you are quite free to start with anything.
