Former Real Madrid veteran, Guti, has expressed that doubting the abilities of Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is similar to doubting the abilities of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
While addressing the press, Guti spoke in defence of the Portuguese skipper following the criticism he faced after Real Madrid’s loss to Barcelona.
The two Spanish titans locked horns last Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu in this season’s first El Clasico. At the end of the highly anticipated fixture, La Blaugrana emerged victorious over Los Blancos with the final score-line reading 1-3.
One of the highlights of the match was Cristiano Ronaldo’s inability to make a good impact on the game in favour of the Whites. The Portuguese star lived up to his reputation of being a big game choker as he underperformed throughout the match. He was seen
under pressure as he missed two great goalscoring opportunities.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guti-c15452 has expressed that Ronaldo should not be judged by his performance in one match, rather his performance over the season. He voiced his opinion stating that Ronaldo is as great a player as Lionel Messi and that his abilities should not be doubted.
While talking to Europa Press, the Spaniard said:
"Doubting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841,Football is just like that. We all know they are the best in the world but if they do not play well two matches in a row, they will get picked
on, too."
Guti explained how football is a sport of highs and lows, insisting that anything can happen. He stated that the amount of attention given to Ronaldo is one of the factors that may have affected his performance against Barcelona.
"Football is a roller coaster and when things go your way, it seems like you are God, and no one will get you out of your place at the top of the mountain, but when you are up there, you know that you can fall at any moment," he stated.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 have both been shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d’Or. Both players are among the three finalists of the competition alongside Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez.
