Doug Barron; The accused comes out to play
Doug Barron returned to the Q-school field yesterday after his one year suspension was lifted seven weeks back.
Barron was allegedly suspended under the PGA Tour's anti-doping policy and the drug suspension episode this forty one year old thus faced is regarded as one of the most unique indirect routes any player has ever faced. Barron was the first player to be suspended under this policy and faced a long road back at Q school.
According to latest reports, Doug Barron had an epic sunlight hour of golf at the Q school grounds that left him extremely excited and happy recently.
Recapping the past few months, the forty one year old didn't posses the same amount of energy he possesses today. The golfer was suspended from the golfing arena one year back and ended his stretch in September. Barron was fixed with a Curative use indemnity for testosterone.
Last year however, he wasn't handed out the exemption considering the St. Jude Classic. It all happened when he was indiscriminately chosen for drug testing and the forty one year old had to undergo the trial at start of his PGA Tour beginning. Now that his trial and his lawsuit is settled, he is all ready to jump back into the golfing arena.
During his appearance at the event, he said that he has been preparing for the event for more than a year now and rumors say that the golfer didn't start with his testosterone intake till his exemption was approved.
To regain his momentum, the forty one year old didn't jump in the huge events directly. It is reported that Barron started with mini-tours. In the seven weeks Barron collected 6 events where he ended his last tournament at the 13th place and earned $750 and $1000 at the one before where he ended at the 7th place.
"We can count these dollars as vacation money for when I'll retire," Barron said with a laugh.
As far as Barron's health is concerned, he has dealt with several issues at almost every stage of his life. As a teenager, he faced a mitral valve prolapse that forced him to use beta blockers and four years ago the doctors said that he had the testosterone level of an 80-year-old man.
The golfer thus started his steroid intake so as to get his testosterone level back to normal. The unfortunate part was that two years after his medication started, the tour decided to introduce the doping policy.
The forty one year old will appear today at the second stage play of the Q school with the aim of getting a chance to step into the December's 6 round final stage.
