Doug Bollinger and Michael Hussey set to fly home
Australia’s middle-order batsman, Michael Hussey, and the pacer Doug Bollinger are all set to fly back home before the third One Day International between India and Australia kicks off in Goa on 24th of October.
Doug Bollinger is sent back to help the recovery from abdominal strain, which has kept Bollinger on the seat since the Mohali Test. Hussey will be joining Western Australia in its Sheffield Shield contest against South Australia Redbacks.
The physio of Australia cricket team, Kevin Sims, told the media reporters about Bolinger’s injury. "Doug reported some minor discomfort to his abdomen during his rehabilitation from the previous injury", said Kevin Sims.
Sims further added that the injury is not of serious nature, however, the bowler was sent back to Australia to prevent him from the workloads necessary for him to be available for selection in the Goa fixture.
"We do not think the new issue is serious, however, it will prevent him from achieving the workloads necessary for him to be available for selection in the third ODI in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Goa-c786. Therefore we have decided it is in his best interests to
return to Australia for further assessment and to outline further rehabilitation. Doug's return-to-cricket date will be finalized following this assessment".
The decision of sending Hussey back was to help the middle order batsman manage his workload ahead of the tightly packed home summer.
The hero of 2010 ICC World T20 Championship’s semi-final struggled for form in the recent two-match Test series loss against India, where he failed to pass away a tally of 100 runs after playing four innings with a highest score of
34.
Hussey sparked well in the second one-day against India in Visakhapatnam, compiling an assured 69, though the tourists lost in the end. Despite his good limited-over form, the Australian selection board thought a four-day game would
help the batsman more than an additional ODI in conditions very different from those he will face at home this summer.
The chairman of selectors, Andrew Hilditch, informed the media person about the board’s decision of calling Hussey home. "As part of the ongoing individual workload management ahead of an exciting Australian summer and the World Cup
in the subcontinent, Michael Hussey will not play in the third one-day game in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and will return home to Australia", said Andrew Hilditch.
Hussey, after having few days off, will resume the game in the Sheffield Shield fixture between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 that would start from 29 October at Adelaide Oval.
