Doug Bollinger will commence bowling next week – Australian physio
Doug Bollinger, injured Australian fast bowler, will have only one game to prove his fitness ahead of the home Ashes series against England. Cricket Australia confirmed today that the left-arm pacer would not start bowling again until
next week.
Bollinger, 29, suffered an abdominal strain during the recent tour to India, which kept him on the bench since the first Test in Mohali. Dough Bollinger and Michael Hussey arrived in India just two days before Mohali Test after a successful
Champions League T20 tournament with Chennai Super Kings in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 where the IPL team finished as champion this year.
According to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Kountouris-c43123, the Physiotherapist of Australian team, the paceman is expected to make New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania tiger starting from 17th November - just eight days before the
Ashes gets underway.
"On returning to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, he had scans that have cleared him of any significant muscle injury," told Kountouris. "As such he will commence bowling next week and is likely to be available for selection for the Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield
game for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 starting November 17."
Ahead of 17th November game, the Blues have two Sheffield Shield fixtures scheduled against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 Bushrangers but the injured fast bowler is not expected to be rushed back for either of those matches. Simon
Katich, however, would be available for the second of those matches, after recovering from his thumb injury. So Katich will be having two matches before the opening Ashes Test in Brisbane from 25th November.
"Simon Katich injured a thumb ligament prior to the first Test in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750," said the Aussie physio. "Since returning home, he has seen a specialist who advised him take a short break from batting and then return to training. As such,
he has not batted since returning from India but will do so next week."
