Doug Fister confident of subduing Colby Lewis in ALCS Game 3 – MLB Update

After helping the Detroit Tigers qualify for the Championship Series, Doug Fister will take the mound once again on Tuesday, October 11 at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan in a bid to keep his team alive in the seven-game ALCS against Texas Rangers.
The Tigers lost Game 1 and 2 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington largely due to an offensive failure. However, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer also failed from the mound, increasing doubts on Detroit’s ability to play against the top-teams in Major League
Baseball.
Detroit’s manager Jim Leyland, however, shunned all criticism and insisted that the team will bounce back in home games. With runners on scoring positions, Detroit’s offence went 2-for-19 in the first two games. Heading home, Leyland and company will considerably
want to improve this conversion rate.
Texas does not sport a decent record playing in Detroit. In the regular season, the Rangers dropped four of six at Comerica Park, but with the momentum tilting towards them, they have the ability to topple the Tigers.
An added advantage for Texas will be Colby Lewis starting the game. Lewis started Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays and came out victorious, allowing just one run in six innings to finish at an ERA of 1.50.
Nevertheless, his record against Detroit is not impressive. In the regular season, Lewis lost one of his two starts against the Tigers and managed a no-decision in the other, finishing at an ERA of 15.95. However, Lewis is not worried by these statistics
and believes that he just needs a few good pitches to get back into his groove.
Talking to reporters on the eve of Game 3, Lewis said, "It's the comfortability aspect of things. Basically the more you do it, the more you go out there, the more you understand what it takes to perform and be on that stage."
Fister, on the contrary, is confident of replicating his unscathed run at Comerica Park. The right-handed pitcher has won four out of five starts at home and has earned one no-decision. Fister is upbeat of playing in front of the electric crowd at the ballpark
and giving his team a chance to resurface in the series.
