Hey, well i'm 17 and im looking to get car insurance for the first time. I was wondering if i will have to place a down payment on my insurance? I heard that the down payment is the cost of my first and last payment if I choose to pay monthly. Is this true? I also heard that if i choose to pay all of hte insurance in one payment, that I dont have to play a down payment. Is this true as well? Thanks. This is in Ontario canada btw.

  1. Yes, both true... see mbrcatz17 replied.

However, you're only 17 and I assume you currently have G2 license, so your insurance is quite expensive...(if you really have to buy your own car + insurance under your name). The best way is to take a driver training course and get a certificate. It helps for lower your insurance premium up to 5 - 10%.

  2. Yes,  for a down payment, you need at least two month's premium.  Yes, if you pay in full, up front, you don't have a "down payment", you just pay the full year completely.
