Twenty20 is a form of cricket, originally introduced in the United Kingdom for professional inter-county competition by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), in 2003. Both teams have a single innings and bat for a maximum of 20 overs.

A Twenty20 game is completed in about two and half hours, with each innings lasting around 75 minutes, thus bringing the game closer to the timespan of other popular team sports such as football. It was introduced to create a lively form of the game which would be attractive to spectators at the ground and viewers on television and as such it has been very successful.

  6. Advantages:

Creates more interest in cricket, more cricketers find a spot to play cricket, international crickets provide opportunity to play with and against them that could help fine tune the players' skills, helps the economy of the places where the matches are being played.

    Disadvantages:

Too much cricket affects the players' physical condition, Cricket has become more of a business then a entertaining sport, too much bollywoodish approach to cricket, Cricket has become a hit and run a kid's sport from a technique oriented serious game, this form of cricket will change cricket from what cricket used to be.

  9. IPL provides an opportunity for talented youngsters to play along with international players.  Inm normal course they do  not get any such opportunity but get opportunity to play only in domestic matches or under 19 matches.  IPL provides them not only the opportunity to mix-up and play with international players, but also get the opportunity to earn money.  Their interaction with international players will help to boost their confidence level and will help them to groom up.

IPL also generate lot of revenue, which can be utilised to improve the infra-structure for cricket in India.
