What do u guys think about Nikolay's first round loss? I would have expected better from the #4 in the world. For those of u who saw it, how did he play?

  1. he dosen't take himself seriously on grass courts and he hates it....recently he just won a clay tournament like last week actually and did not warm-up at all for playing on grass courts today was the first time he played on grass since last year's wimbledon and he is still pretty good though....you can sorta tell he didn't really try to hard his returns were more choppy and a 'just get it back' type ball instead of his normal returns

  2. maybe hair problem

  3. While I did not see the match itself, I have to say that I am not too surprise. Grass has always been Davydenko's worst surface and I do mean, worst. LOL This is his fifth first round defeat in seven appearances at Wimbledon.

Davydenko's best surfaces are on clay and hard courts. He has already won 3 titles this year, including the Masters Series title in Miami. With the upcoming US Hardcourt season I believe his results would reflect better of his number 4 ranking. Besides what makes Davydenko a great player and someone worthy enough to be rank this high, is that he has always been very consistent on the tour these past few years. In the years that Federer and Nadal was dominating everyone, Davydenko was able to keep himself close enough  to those guys, when most guys could not even compete with them. And now that Djokovic has entered the picture, Davydenko is still maintaining a close position with the three of them. With a couple good results I won't be too surprise if he overtakes Djokovic in the coming months. LOL

  4. he is so annoying. he is top 4 in the world and he plays at a small clay court tournament in poland AFTER THE FRENCH OPEN. that is rediculous that there even is another clay court tourny after the Fremch. the atp needs to change this and needs to fine players that do not play on the grass because they dont like it (nikolay "cheating russian" davydenko). too ******* bad the americans have to play on their least favorite surface for  two months in the spring. He should not be #4 in the world, hes horrible he just plays little tournys.

  5. Charlie Brown has terrible luck at Wimbledon. Why would you play a clay tourni before W rather than a grass one. Makes no sense to me. Well let's see what the Wimbledon Psychiatrist had to say...

  6. It's the surface - I think he needs more play with the bounce (even though the surface is bouncing high right now).  But there's a reason he's never won a grand slam - he's unpredictable in his skill level.  That might have something to do with it as well.

  7. ya and amazingly he's still #4 player in the world, how does he do it??

i don't want to jump to a conclusion but perhaps he's much smarter than we think, he's taking care of the life after tennis...

  8. He's not a good grass court player at all, I think he entered Wimbeldon 7 times, and lost 5 times of them in the first round, so I wasn't surprised at all.
