Question:

Downgraded to XP, can't connect to the internet? ?

Hi there

I finally gave up on Vista and downgraded to XP. I downloaded all the necessary drivers prior to the downgrade and have loaded these on, everything is working fine however I cannot connect to the net at all (through LAN). I've double checked the driver and all seems fine - any ideas on what I can do?

FYI - it's a Compaq Presario C719tu. I've been googling for hours to no avail :) Starting to feel a bit like I've wasted good money! (Thank goodness for my work laptop).

  1. see may be the xp version you got may b not supportin' the LAN card you got on vista get a new LAN card which is supported by xp

    may this help you.

    thanx.

  2. Don't use the software listed above, I dont know what it is, but it looks suspicious......Im not sure whats happening, I wish i could tell you. my instinct was to say drivers, but it looks like youve got that covered...I just posted to warn you off the above post. from the first poster.

Where did you find the driver for your network card??? I just checked the HP-Compaq website and i see that they did not publish a network driver for XP, just some software, and a few ancillary drivers. If you are trying to use the Vista driver as an XP driver it wont work, and the HP network software offered there is not a driver either.
