  1. Take extra miniDV tape with you, then you won't have to worry about it... I am going to Europe for a week - I am taking 24 miniDV tapes... They don't take that much room.

When you fill a tape, take it out, lock it, label it and put in a blank tape.

For your other questions, perhaps you can post here...

  2. You'll find that you'll need to take tapes with you definitely. You can get them in most cities however. I've been caught out a few times over the years when forgetting to take MiniDV for the smaller cams. I got stuck on an island once with no

tapes...not a good idea. I also missed shots of Tigers because of no tapes for the MiniDV cams. The Cybercafes normally have USB but I don't think I've seen one with Firewire. However in the cities there are generally lots of small video production companies so they will get it down for you if you get stuck. If you are shooting HD and use HD tapes then take a lot with you as they are hard to come by.

The voltage is 240v at 50 Hertz and subsequently PAL TV standard in most places.

Nu'uanu...you won't have any problem in Europe with getting tapes in towns in any country...unless you need DVCAM. In Ireland we can even buy them in the local village shop and anywhere that caters for tourists will have somewhere selling them. I would use your baggage allowance on something else..like booze or a cheap camera to sell..lol.. and buy tapes on arrival at the airport if you need to.

    Cheers
