Downloading using torrents?

is using torrentz illegal?

If the admin finds that I have downloaded content can I be charged?

normally we(admins) feel that torrents are illegal as most of the stuff are copyrighted and you are getting them illegal.

but if you request and inform your admin before hand about the material that you require through torrent and it is legal then there is no issue.

Torrents themselves aren't illegal. Copyrighted material downloaded using torrents is what's illegal. If you pretty much download anything that's copyrighted for FREE without the rights, then you're breaking the law.

Regarding your question about the administrator finding out, if he has any monitoring software installed on the network, then he can probably identify you and cut off your access. It's really a hit-and-miss thing, to be honest. If you're caught, you could be subjected to copyright infringement fines.

Be careful what you download.

yes just dont download copyrighted materials thats certainly illegal.

be careful in downloading them your admin might not let you in anymore if he caught you or worse.
