Downloads for Mozilla Firefox problems?

I use firefox, and when you download or open something, it opens up a downloads window, and then after its done downloading whatever it is, it opens up. My downloads used to be 'saved' on the downloads window until I click "remove" but now they dont ever show up at all, but the downloads window still opens! How can I get them to come back?

Try the Download Statusbar add-on.  I never use the Firefox downloader any more.

Click on Tools  >>  Options  >>  Main and check the box for "show the downloads window" and "Save files to".

That ought to do it.

In firefox, click 'Tools', then 'Options'. Click the Privacy tab. Under Private Data, there is a 'Settings' button. Click it and uncheck 'Download History'. It should work now.
