....in their primes, race a mile & 1/16. Who wins? [If you want to frame the question a little differently, like who would win the most times out of 5 contests or something similar, that's OK too]

  1. Whoa, that is a difficult question.

My suspicion is that Seattle Slew is the weakest of this bunch, while Dr. Fager and Ghostzapper were incredible at distances shorter than 9 furlongs (though they could (and did) run as spectacularly at longer distances). I'd give the edge to Dr. Fager, but there is absolutely no way to answer that question without bias or controversy.

Nice selection of horses, by the way. Dr. Fager and Ghostzapper are often too forgotten (though not completely underrated). You get a star.

  2. All 3 were great horses and all 3 will forever be recognized in horse racing history but Ghostzapper was known for his speed and his ability to break track records, So I would have to say Ghostzapper.

I must admit my alltime favorite horse is still Affirmed, the last triple crown winner.

3 Triple crown winners in the 70s and none since.

  3. My money would be on Seattle Slew.

Slew is special in my heart.  I was at Belmont the day he was His Triple Crown.
