Does anyody seriously undestand the ending?

Dr. Horrible got what he thought he wanted, but the cost was much too high. Remember that the only individual he had any animosity towards was Captain Hammer. They spent a good deal of time making it clear that he was highly opposed to killing innocent people as a means to reach his goals.

In the presence of the Evil League of Evil he acts pleased with how events turned out. The quick cut at the very end, however, reveals that he's made himself numb to the world in order to cope with the loss of Penny.

In other words, it's a tragedy.
