Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli: Robert Kubica will drive in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli, who is taking care of Renault injured driver Robert Kubica since his last surgery, has said that Kubica will be a Formula 1 driver in 2012, as he is recovering quickly.
Ceccarelli added that he will be able to confirm in November 2011 or January 2012 whether Kubica is fit enough for 2012 Formula 1 season or not.
Ceccarelli commented, “It is true, Robert still has an external fixator on his leg and we have not rushed to remove it - the longer the better, and the better result. So as we wait for the healing of the hand and the elbow, there is still no hurry... The
muscles have been inactive for months and so need to recover tone and strength. But the big question - if he can drive in formula one again - has gone.”
Team Renault are still waiting for a confirmed date of Kubica’s return to the sport.
On the other hand, Kubica’s manager Daniele Morelli stated that they are still not able to predict an exact time for their injured driver’s return in the team following his rally crash, which happened in the early days of month February 2011.
Morelli mentioned, “But we are optimistic, very optimistic, and I do not think a delay of a couple of weeks can affect the plans. One thing is certain - he is coming back. The only problem now is muscular.”
The Polish driver manager further added that he is hopeful of getting back Kubica on F1 grid very soon.
With regards to Renault’s performance in the season, they are at the fifth position with 70 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship after taking part in 14 rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season so far.
In the recently held Singapore Grand Prix, both the drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna failed to deliver their best possible performance on the grid, as their rivals were faster as compared to them.
Senna and Petrov came at the 15th and 17th places respectively in the final race classifications in Singapore.
Let’s see how they manage their last five rounds of the ongoing season following a disappointing Singapore race.
