Question:

Dr. Who - The Ten Doctors?

Some of the most memorable episodes of the past have been 'reunion' episodes with former incarnations of the Doctor. Has there ever been any official announcement regarding the possibility of doing such an episode for the new series? I'm sure that there would be significant obstacles to such, but they've managed to cleverly work around them before (for example, Tom Baker's 'appearance' in The Six Doctors').

  1. There are certainly no plans for a TV episode featuring all 10 Doctors. It would be kind of difficult to accomplish really, since the first three are dead, and both Tom and Colin Baker look very different now compared to back when they were the Doctor.

The only way a "10 Doctors" episode could work would be to make it as an animation I think. Then they could get all the surviving actors to voice each of their rolls, and perhaps have an impressionist like John Culshaw to voice the rolls of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Doctors.

The comic linked to by Dr Zero Cool is well worth a look actually. Its very well done, and might be the closest thing we'll get to a 10 Doctors episode.

A reunion of the 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Doctors might work on-screen though. "the "Time Crash" mini-episode for children in need, where Tennant's 10th Doctor met Davison's 5th worked surprisingly well, and both Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann still look the part. Christopher Eccleston might be the sticking point, however, since it seems he isn't keen on doing any more DW.

Interestingly, Paul McGann was spotted having a "working lunch" with Russel. T Davies earlier this year, so an appearance by the 8th Doctor in one of the 2009 special episodes might be on the cards.

  2. There's been rumours that there will be a 7 doctors special next year.

  3. There's talk of them doing perhaps one of the Christmas specials with Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Tom Baker and David Tennant, with Eccleston possibly showing up.  Nothing is definite yet as far as I know.  Check out the site below.  Did you see Time Crash?  That was funny!  "Not many people can pull off a decorative vegetable."

  4. I don't think there has been any official announcement about a 'reunion' episode but I think it's definitely a possibility.  I would love to see the 8th, 9th & 10th Doctors in a story together - I think that's the only really plausible combination at the moment as the actors from the classic series are just a tad too old to return to their roles.  Colin Baker looks nothing like he did as the Sixth Doctor now & Sylvester McCoy looks quite different too - but then it has been almost twenty years since they finished filming the classic series ; )

I think the creation of 'the other Doctor' in 'Journey's End' was a brilliant way of creating the opportunity for David Tennant to return to the role in the future.

This site is brilliant for up to date Doctor Who news:

If there's any official announcements made regarding future Doctor Who stories then this is the website to check : )

The official Doctor Who page on the BBC website is quite good too.

  5. Nothing on film and no announcements that I know of, but you could try this online comic:

It is awesome... I guarantee.  I've literally laughed out loud several times whilst reading that comic.
