I feel bad for idiots who draft kickers early; one guy took Nick Folk with the 85th pick, WTF? It'll mess up your entire team. Everyone knows kickers should be drafted in the VERY LAST ROUND. (Unless you're in some kind of bizarre 'Kickers and Punters only' league).
It doesn't matter who the kicker is; it really doesn't. No difference between Nick Folk as oppossed to Crosby, Gould, Bironas, Reed, Graham, Kaeding, Dawson, Scobee, or some other guy I missed. As long as you don't get someone who will miss a large amount of FGs (such as Tynes or Suisham), you'll be just fine.
Kickers are the most unpredictable position; it's hard to tell who will do better week-to-week let alone the entire year. Plus all the kickers are bunched up really close together as far as points go. There are about 12-15 kickers that are reliable kickers.
How did that work out for people who took Vinatieri early last year? Not good.
Also, draft only one kicker with your last round pick and have only one kicker on your roster at any given time; no reason to have 2 or more. Drop kickers during bye weeks, pick up different kickers whatever.
Kickers are available every week in large quantities and can be picked up, dropped or whatever. If you take a kicker early on then it shows you have limited fantasy knowledge (mostly 1st year players do that). Rookie players- take it from me, draft your kicker in the last round.
If you take a kicker early on then you're an idiot (especially in standard leagues with 10 teams) and I do feel sorry for your stupidity. I pity you. If you take a kicker earlier, then you'll regret it. If you take a kicker early then automatically reduce your chance of winning the league. Plus, it's bad karma. Ask any fantasy expert or experienced fantasy player, they'll agree.
Any thoughts or comments on those statements above?
