does it matter what direction you do the golf club turn?

  1. wow now that sounds like a fun class, do you have a video. Ive done alot of Halter but Draft would be cool to watch.


  2. In the golf club turn, as with all turns in showmanship unless directed to do them to the left, you PUSH the horse to the right regardless of the breed or association showing with. If you need more information on draft showmanship I recommend It's Showtime: A Beginner's Guide to Showing Draft Showmanship by Robert A. Mischka. I am sure that you can probably find it online somewhere but it has a lot of information in it that you should find useful.

    The purpose of the turns like this is not just for safety it is for the purpose of the class.... to "show" your horse off the best which means that the person is not in the judge's view. When you push a horse away from you the judge has full view of the horse rather than you in the way as when you turn the horse with you to the left.
