Question:

Drafting & Design Education?

If I get my A.A in general studies(one class away) and decide to go into drafting & design, what do I need to do? I've had drafting in H.S.

I can get my A.A.S that I do know, but what else could I pursue like for a B.S? I do not want to be an "architect" , I like working behind the scenes! Thanks

  1. Well only certain states have colleges that offer a bachelors degree in drafting. In my case I would have to move out of state to get my bachelors degree in drafting. Unfortunately the state of Arkansas only has A.A.S. degrees available. The job market for drafters really sucks in certain states as well, and most engineers and architects that have graduated within the past 5 to 10 years don't need drafters because colleges are teaching CAD to engineers and architects. I got a job at a civil engineering firm and I was eventually let go because my boss could draft way faster and more accurately than me and I got A's in every drafting class in college. I'm now having to reconsider my career and college major. Then are great opportunities for drafters out there, but you might have to relocate depending on what state you live in.
