Dragon Pulse favourite for St James´s Palace Stakes
Dragon Pulse is tipped to prevail in the St James´s Palace Stakes (British Champions Series) (Group 1) (Entire Colts) at Ascot in England on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. The winner of the class-1 event will walk away with a cash prize of £167,295.
The going will be good to soft in the 1 mile race, which is scheduled to start at 15:45 GMT, and a total of 16 runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Power, Born To Sea, Most Improved, Hermival, Dragon Pulse, Lucayan, Fencing, Foxtrot Romeo, Cogito, Gregorian, The Nile, Gabrial, Wrote, Arnold Lane, Saigon and Miblish.
Although the competition at Ascot will be quite tough, Dragon Pulse has a chance to outperform his rivals. He is a decent performer and likes running in the longer distance events. Furthermore, the track conditions will also suit him more than anyone else, which will encourage the punters to place the maximum number of bets on him.
The three-year-old colt has participated in six races until now, winning three of them and finishing runner up on a couple of times. There was only one occasion, where he dropped out of the top three, which means that he is a consistent performer.
However, the M. Delzangles’ trainee was unable to deliver a solid show in his most recent outing, as he finished ninth in it. He was given pretty decent odds back then, but was a touch unlucky in the race. He did not get a clean run, which forced him to stay at the back.
Despite that, Dragon Pulse is expected to bounce back strongly, as he has got a very good stamina. He will be partnered by F. M. Berry, who does not have a lot of experience, but has been in good form recently. He will be looking forward to a solid run at Ascot today.
The bookies seem to have more faith in the skills of Power, who has got a terrific record at this level. He has participated in eight races, winning five of them whereas finished runner up on a couple of times. He only dropped out of the top three once, which proves that he is quite capable of fighting for victories.
