Dragon Pulse keen on participating in the National Stakes after his impressive win in the Futurity Stakes
The 2-year-old chestnut colt, Dragon Pulse, could be on his way to participate for what looks like his next start in the Group 1 Goffs National Stakes at the Curragh on 10 September, 2011, after he dumped all his opponents in emphatic manner to win the Group
2 Futurity Stakes, also at the Curragh, on 20 August, 2011.
Dragon Hill won his 2nd race among 3 lifetime starts, under jockey, F M Berry, for trainer, Mrs. John Harrington.
In a field of 8 horses, Dragon Pulse was sent at the odds of 7 to 1 to win the seven furlong dash.
On a ground labelled good, the pair settled in the rear, keeping off pace and analysing how it all shapes up after the half mark by keeping just in striking range.
Just before 2 furlongs out, Dragon Pulse got shifted over to the outside. The pair was looking to find a little pocket of space to cease the moment and go all out for the wire in a crowded field.
The whole formation of the race changed as Dragon Pulse took advantage of the gaps and a little bit of luck, as he made good progress and led early, coming in to the final furlong and from then on kept going strongly to win the race over the 6 to 1 favourite,
Parish Hall, by 1 ¾ lengths.
Owned by Tai Kai Chah, Dragon Pulse was considered as good as 25 to 1 for the all important QIPCO 2,000 Guineas after the Futurity Stakes' triumph, which he was also supplemented for.
However, trainer Harrington is keen on running her colt in the National Stakes maybe because not so long ago she saddled the then 2-year-old bay colt, Pathfork, to win the National Stakes by a mere head on 11 September, 2011.
Harrington has an alternative race scheduled for Dragon Pulse since she insists the National Stakes will be considered if the ground is in right condition. The alternative choice is the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes on 25 September, 2011.
Dragon Pulse has been racing well, but he will be tested in the coming days if he is to extend his winning streak
