Question:

Dragon weight? fantasy?

I'm making a dragon character for fun. She's 22.2 feet from nose to her tail tip, with two 6 foot by 9.5 foot wings. She's covered in scales and has membrane wings with two horns on the back of her head. What would be a good weight to give her? She's not fat or too skinny, but healthy in the middle. Keep in mind the muscles. This is just something for fun. Thanks for helping.

  1. idk but dragons were real they found fossils

  2. Her wings are far, far too small.

In nature, wingspan total is typically at least twice the total length. Thus, your dragon should have closer to a 45ft wingspan. Say... 3 feet across the back so 21 feet per wing and then we could further break that down into a ... 4 foot upper wing-arm bone, a 5 or 6 foot lower-arm, and then 11 feet to the longest wing-finger.

The membranes of the wings should also extend at least to the base of the tail, otherwise that heavy hind end would sag during flight.

And now I've gone really *really* nitpicky. XD

Weight-wise, probably close to 1800lbs or more.  The average horse weighs 1100lbs.

    *edit*

You said 2 (meaning 2 total wings, 1 pair) wings that are 6 feet, by 9 feet. Now, that means either 6 feet long and 9 feet wide, or 9 feet long and 6 feet wide. Either way, total length would be around 15 to 20 feet.

Also, dragon tails are HEAVY. Bird have weeny nubbins, bats have scrawny tails, pterosaurs had scrawny things. Dragons, typically, have thick saurian tails and those are heavy as heck, and thus need to be added into the total length.

  3. Make note that dragon bones are verry verry light (there hollo) so they can fly better.

  4. 4.5 to 6 tons
