Dragonera to bag the Voute Sales Warwickshire Oaks Stakes at Warwick
The Class 1 Voute Sales Warwickshire Oaks Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) will be held at Warwick over a mile, two furlongs and 188 yards on Monday, 18th June. The £18,714 event has assembled a line-up of eight four-year and older runners.
The most promising entry for the race is Dragonera, Doyen’s four-year-old bay filly out of mare, Time Will Show. She kick started the season with the Innovation And Coco Ice Of Bawtry Fillies’ Handicap on 28th April at Doncaster over a mile and
two and a half furlongs.
Paired up with Paul Hanagan, Dragonera led the runner up of the race, Battery Power, by a neck’s difference. Settling third was Lady Chaparral while the 5/2 favourite of the race, Night And Dance, ended fourth on the track of seven.
She then ended third in the Leo Bancroft Signature Haircare Handicap on 12th May at Ascot over a mile and four furlongs. Grumeti won the race in partnership with Jimmy Fortune while leading the 11/10 favourite runner up of the race, Local Hero,
by one and a half lengths.
Her third outing of the season gave her the opportunity of improving the third position that she had bagged in the last attempt. She did make the most out of it and qualified as the runner up in the Freebets.Co.UK Fillies’ Handicap on 8th June
at Doncaster over a mile and two and a half furlongs.
The race was dominated by the evening’s favourite, Qaraaba, who led the runner up, Dragonera, by three lengths. Coming at terms with the third position was Maven.
The four-year-old has never raced at Warwick before and is getting a chance through the fourth outing of the new season.
Another note worthy entry who can upset the chances of Dragonera is Set To Music who cracked into the season with a sixth position and then improved it to a runner up’s honour right through the very next chance.
Dragonera has proved herself with posting a success through her seasonal debut which indicates her ability to dictate the terms of the race today. She will need to bounce back into the form in which she penetrated into the season.
