I baught me a houseboat for $1000 off ebay and got it started ive been driving it but i found the room in the basement with the motor in it and it has a foot of water down there? I see where the water is comming in but im going to try to drive it back to shore but if it gets too full if i drill a hole in the side of the boat just above where the water level is will it drain out of that? The pump doesn't work and nor does the cb radio.

  1. No silly you need to drill a hole in the bottom to let the water out.

What is your brain asleep. Get the pump fixed and then pump out the water. Why would you drill a hole in the side to let the water out. If you move the boat in the water more water will come in then out.

  2. Whatever you do,  Get a videocamera and record it......This should be good for a spot on television if nothing else.

go to any GOOD sporting goods store that sells kayaks.  There they have some hand operated bailing pumps.  its quicker than buckets.

If you cant get a pump or bail it out fast enough.....then beach it, bow first...then worry about fixing the hole and the pump.

There should be a hand-bailer pump on board....if not you need to get one anyway.

  3. i think i would use a bucket if nothing else would work.. the expense of sinking a house boat is worth a bit of manual labor.
