Dramamine alternative?

Hi, I'm going on a cruise next week w/my husband and we are looking for a Dramamine alternative to take for motion sickness. We took Dramamine on our last cruise and it totally knocked us out, for like 12 hours!! I had heard of something like it that starts with a 'B', but I can't remember the name.

  1. Try ginger and/or peppermint. It helps some ppl and doesn't do much of anything on others. But it works for me and if I didn't take it I would be car sick every time I rode in a car.


  2. Vitamin B6 is supposed to work for pregnant women.

    I personally like ginger and the homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica.

    Take the ginger in whatever form you want, (tea, capsules, chews, syrup, etc.)  up to 3 - 4 times daily.

    Take the Nux Vomica separate so the ginger taste doesn't negate the effects, and take this as often as needed, even up to every 15 minutes until symptoms subside.

  3. I know what B name drug your thinking of. Its generic dramamine.  I have had success with ginger, either in pills or ginger snaps, and with sea sickness bands. They go on your wrist.

  4. Quick Remedies for Motion Sickness

    If you have a problem with motion sickness or seasickness, be sure to bring along some ginger root and papaya tablets on your next trip.

    One gram of ginger root taken with a couple papaya tablets about 20 minutes before traveling can work wonders. If the trip is a long one, the same dosage may have to be repeated after several hours if the symptoms reappear.

    Try one of these alternatives if you don't have ginger root and papaya tablets on hand:

    Drink 12 oz of either ginger ale or 7-Up mixed with the juice of one lime and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.

    Drink the juice of one coconut and two limes mixed together.

    If available, grind and eat the seeds of a papaya.
