  1. I have had much more success with the non-drowsy Dramamine formula.

Take your first dose when you start the embarkation process.

I feel fee motion on the larger ships so we try to sail ships that are 110-tons or larger.

  2. Well, it will make a difference if it's non-drowsy if the other prep makes you sleepy - you may not want to sleep but if the medication has that side effect, you may not feel like doing anything.

A "generic" substitute for Dramamine is diphenhydramine [Benadryl]; the generic for Bonine is meclazine.  I like the Benadryl better, because the meclazine makes me feel like a zombie.  The one that's "better" is the one that works better for you.

  3. I have found that ginger works best. Some ships have sushi bars on them and have ginger there, so if you're a sushi eater, go for the sushi.

Otherwise you can just go to the pharmacy and look for ginger root pills and buy some prior to your trip. Those work better than dramamine or bonine without the sleepiness factor.

  4. My girlfriend has horrible motion sick so she go t a patch prescribed from her doctor   She just puts it behind her ear and it takes away any queasiness but I don't know what it's called

  5. First, you may not even experience motion sickness, Ive been on 10 and have had to take dramamine only once ( it was so rough we had a hard time standing upright)...the dr's i work for suggest dramamine and i found OTC worked just fine, you can get it at Target or the also have it on the ship at the purser's desk free of charge......go and have a good time and don't worry about sea sickness

  6. Different people react differently, but personally I would be asleep if I took Dramamine (vacation or not!). More people seem to find cinnarizine (15mg every 4 hours or so) effective and less sleep-making.

  7. Heres a tip for you; if you get on board and feel quesy in anyway, head down to the guest relations desk and ask for something for sea sickness....they will hand you a packet with some bonine in it for free. (at least on our ship it was)  I thought I would need some but ended up liking the rocking motion, and it helped me sleep really great!

  8. Definately Dramamine.  And do take it before you start your cruise.

    Hope this helps

  9. I would choose Dramamine.  There is not much difference but if you are paying the same price for both choose dramamine.  Make sure you take it before you being the event that woudl cause the motion sickness.  Going to six flags, or going on a cruise.  Once you have started the activity it is not that effective.

    Personal Experience....

  10. I prefer Bonine. It's non drowsy and long acting. The active ingredient Meclizine is what most doctors prescribe for motion sickness.
