Dravid heaps praise on Ganguly and Dhoni’s captaincy – Cricket News Update
India’s former middle-order batting mainstay, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, terming them to be the best captains he has
played under.
Dravid, the 39-year-old former Bangalore batsman, observed that Dada was “passionate about his job”, while the Ranchi boy is “a great leader by example”, and feels both of them were the best choices for the coveted role during
their respective tenures.
"All the captains had something. The two captains that I played under the longest were Ganguly and Dhoni. Both of them were right (for the job) at the time they led India," said Dravid, who retired from international cricket
in March this year.
"Ganguly had a passion for the job. He had a desire to win. He was willing to do whatever it took to win."
"Dhoni had probably a more mature team. He is a great leader by example. Someone whom I have always admired for his ability to remain balanced and have the sense of equanimity about his captaincy," he added further.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 stepped down from the coveted position, and went on to
lead the Men in Blue till 2005.
The 39-year-old Kolkata-born top-order batsman led the side in 49 Tests, with a win-loss ratio of 21 to 13, while the rest ended in draws. He is the only Indian captain to win a Test series against arch-rivals http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 on their home ground.
His ODI captaincy record is equally commendable with 76 wins in 147 games. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LN-Onyango-c1844 has led the Men in Blue in the maximum number of ODIs after Mohammad Azharudduin (174), while the incumbent, MS Dhoni, stands third on statistics with 122 ODIs under his
belt as skipper.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also led the Indian cricket team quite successfully over the last four years. Dhoni’s astute leadership earned them bragging rights across all the three formats of the game. The Ranchi boy also guided the side to ICC World
T20 Championship title in 2007, his first ever assignment as Indian skipper.
It was under Dhoni’s calm and cool captaincy that the Indian climbed to the top of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test Rankings in December 2009, before winning the fifty-over World Cup at home last year.
