Dravid honored during a glittering felicitation ceremony – Cricket News Update
The Indian cricket legend, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 during a felicitation ceremony, held on Tuesday March 27, at a five-star hotel
in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.  
Dravid, who had earlier made a firm vow of not crying at any ceremony which was arranged in his honour, said that his commitment was tested to the fullest in this unforgettable evening.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and other team members paid rich tribute, acknowledging his special services to Indian cricket.
Former skipper, Ganguly, lauded the No. 3 batsman and said that having him as an advisor (vice-captain) during his stint as captain was like having a “pillow of comfort”, and the main reason behind his own successful tenure as the leader of the national
team.  
“The contribution you made to Indian cricket [was] not just the runs you scored, but [the fact that] you played in an era in which Indian cricket went from strength to strength," added Ganguly.
Dhoni, who made his Test debut under Dravid’s captaincy, heaped praise on the Wall by adding that his former teammate was always willing to help the team in whatever capacity he was asked to perform.
"He (Dravid) was someone who would walk through obstacles, not someone who would go around the obstacles," said the skipper.
The 41-year old former Indian Leg-spinner, Kumble, on his turn, recalled the great time he had with his http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Karnataka-c801 compatriot and said that his absence will always be felt in the dressing room.
Laxman also gave an emotional speech, hailing his partner for his selfless attitude before requesting the attendees to give his friend a standing ovation.  
Overwhelmed with the compliments, Dravid was the last one to respond by appreciating the gestures given by everyone, before responding in his own humble way - giving out a good bye speech, where he wished the national team all the success in the future.
   
"I hope Indian cricket will always be a strong force, both on the field and off the field. And I have no doubt that I would take great pleasure, with a cup of tea and a biscuit in my hand, in watching you guys achieve great things."
