Recently retired Indian great, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229, has hinted at the possibility of coaching the Indian team in the future.
"Who knows someday in the future [I may coach the Indian team]," Dravid replied when inquired about the possibility.
The former Indian captain, who is amongst the most accomplished players in world cricket, announced his retirement in March, bidding farewell to an 16-year illustrious career, where he played 164 Tests for India, scoring 13288 runs at an average of 52.31,
along with plying his trade in 344 One Day Internationals (ODI), making 10889 at 39.16.
The former Indian middle-order batsman however, carried on playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and scored 462 runs from 16 matches at 28.87 this season with his franchise http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals.
The former Indian player not only captained his side during the IPL but also acted as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mentor-c41238 to a relatively inexperienced bunch, where his aggressive approach was appreciated. Following the conclusion of the tournament, he revealed his intentions of coaching
the younger lot in the upcoming season but avoided making any commitments.
“The chance to celebrate victory and success with a group of other people is something I have enjoyed doing,” former Indian batsman said."I don't know. Lot of things that I have not decided on. I don't have the level 1, 2, 3 certificates that people want
sometimes. It was part of my role with Rajasthan Royals this year. It was little more than leadership, I was invloved in the tactical and coaching side of it. Enjoyed doing that," he added
Nicknamed ‘The Wall’, for his impeccable defence and resilience against adversary, the right-hander had to suffer a lot during his final year with the national team.
The Men in Blue suffered back to back whitewashes against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, leaving many to criticize the management for keeping faith in veteran players. He however, stood out against the Poms, where he emerged as the leading run-getter for his side,
and further forced his way back into the ODI set up as well.
Later, Dravid was found wanted by a rejuvenated Australian contingent, with his defences breached on a regular basis. In his last 11 innings he was cleaned bowled 9 times, prompting him to reconsider his position with the national team which later, led to
his decision of retirement.
