  1. Draw on long shots is again difficult for many players.  The main problem is that you have to hit the cue ball pretty hard in order for the backspin to still be there when it hits the object ball.  This usually goes back to hitting the cue ball hard in general where a lot of things can go wrong.

As for the draw itself, just keep the cue stick as level as you can, find the miscue point and aim just above it.  Keep your stroke smooth and progressively work your way up to longer distances as you get comfortable with it.  It does take practice; there's nothing magical about it that will happen overnight.

  2. Another thing that I find helps is to keep a really loose grip during the stroke.  Hold the butt of the cue using only your fingertips and really hit through the ball with more follow-through than you normally might.

  3. Your problem is technique. You need a very secure stance and a low bridge-hand that grips the cloth rather than just sitting there. A long draw shot requires a lot of backspin and the only way to impart a lot is to cause your cue to follow-through as close to horizontal as possible. It is the correct timing of the follow-through that generates the required amount of draw. It needs to be hit hard but it is not a bash! It needs a smooth action.

Chalk your cue lightly before the shot, tapping off any loose chalk. When you get more expert with the shot you may find that the cue tip leave a tiny trail of chalk on the cloth. This is no danger to the cloth but it shows that you are really hitting low.

Here is a test shot to practice: Place the blue on its spot. Place the cue-ball on the baulk-line for a dead-straight pot. Pot the blue and draw the cue-ball into the bottom corner pocket.

  4. What sort of trouble are you having?  Long draw shots are a shot were a lot of things could go wrong, and its most likely in your mechanics or stroke.  But for a better answer, whats going on?  Unless you were just venting... haha
