yeah, if im not wrong, what you are asking is already available. It's the YAHOO GROUPS DIRECTORY- you can see names of groups there, its respective descriptions and a link to subscribe to a group.

-If you want this table on your group site, use the Database feature. Click "Database" on left side of group site and create your table according to your needs.  

-If you want this table only on your computer, use Excel or create a table in Word.

The content of either would depend on exactly what info you need.
