Drawing blood then getting shots...?

Question

I have a new kitten, she'll be 8 weeks this Sunday. So I'm going to take her to the Vet soon for her shots. But she's also going to be getting a FIV/FELV test which requires them drawing blood. I know I should be asking my Vet and I will but does anyone know if its bad to draw blood then get her shots all in the same visit? I don't want it to like overload her or something, she's so small (0.8 of a pound) so I don't want it to be too much or something you know?

It will not hurt her at all.  I work in a vets office as a Technician, the test only requires 3 drops of blood, so she will not be getting much of anything taken from her.  Remember that the Vaccines will more than likely make her tired, it is a lot to take in, but who isn't tired after a trip to the doc.  Hope this helps, congrats on your kitten.  :D

Also, if the vet were to have any concerns and thinks it would be better to vaccinate in a week or two, they will tell you.   But ask questions, vets are there to help you and take away any confusion, doubts, or concerns you may have.

It only takes a very small amount of blood for the test and if she is only 8 weeks old they should just be giving one shot, the FVRCP anyway.  Fear not.  Lots of little ones survive this!!!  Take a fecal sample in too for parasite check.
