Drawn match earns Pakistan a Test series win
Pakistan has won a Test series after four years. Their last Test series win was in 2006 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Pakistan played a draw match, and that earned them a series win as they had already won the first Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Pakistan started their second innings today and the target was 274 runs in 90 overs.
The Test match ended with Pakistan’s score of 226 at the expense of five wickets. At one stage Pakistan was heading for the win but when Younis http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 got out, Pakistan’s team decided to bat through the overs and save the game.
Misbah-ul-Haq played a sensible knock and played 226 balls for his 70 unbeaten runs. In the first innings captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, played a gutsy innings of 99 runs, and that earned him the Man-of-the-match award.
Man-of-the-match, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 said that “the team played really well and fought hard, in this Test everybody did their role and we saw the series as more important than this Test”.
Continuing with his speech and praising the players he stated “Younis Khan batted well in both innings and Umar Gul did well in the last Test, but everybody's contributing and that's really good to see”.
It was an exceptional performance by the players, especially considering the current chaotic state of Pakistan cricket. Pakistan lost the first phase of the tour as New Zealand thrashed Pakistan by 2-1 in the Twenty20 internationals. With some major players
missing from Pakistan’s team for notorious reasons, this series win is a positive sign for Pakistan cricket.
Kiwi Skipper, Daniel Vettori, who has become accustomed to giving tough interviews, said “we really enjoyed this Test, a great ground and a good pitch. We couldn't quite play catch-up in this Test and that is because http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 were on top after Hamilton.
We now focus on getting our combinations right for the One-dayers and the World Cup”.
New Zealand is going through turmoil and has become a very weak team in the last year or so. When Pakistan started their tour, it was a clash between two teams that were having severe problems, and the question was which team has guts to perform and today
this query was solved as Pakistan emerged victorious.
The third episode of this series will start from 22nd February. Both teams will be playing six One Day Internationals before going for the ICC World Cup.
After winning the Test series, Pakistan will like to carry forward their gained momentum and try to humiliate New Zealand. In the alien conditions of New Zealand, the surface will suit New Zealand.
However, Pakistan’s camp has immense talent to secure the series. Few changes are expected in both teams. Pakistani players including the captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, will join the team in New Zealand for the One Day Internationals.
