Draymond Green’s last second layup stuns Miami Heat 97-95; Warriors win fifth straight – NBA Recap
With a four game winning streak to boast about, the fearless Golden State Warriors entered the AmericanAirlines Arena on Wednesday night confident to topple the defending champions Miami Heat, winners of two straight.
The Heat were tough, but the Warriors were brave. Led by a 21 first half performance by Klay Thompson, they entered the third period with a one point lead, which ballooned to seven points at the start of the fourth. Miami bounced
back though and with 3:18 to go a Dwyane Wade jumper made it a four point game at 95-91. It could have been a five point differential but Wade missed the free throw.
Curry missed a three point attempt on the following GSW possession, and after Allen did the same on the other end, the GSW point guard nailed a jumper to make it a two point game. He stole the ball from Wade after that, but committed
a turnover himself.
A Bosh turnover later, David Lee scored a couple from the stripe to tie the game at 95.
In the passage that followed LeBron James, Ray Allen and Shane Battier missed a triple each, and those misses came back to haunt them eventually.
With just 0.9 second left on the clock, Jarrett Jack made a bullet pass to rookie Draymond Green, who used the board to sink in a layup and put the Warriors ahead by two. Miami took a time out, and when they returned James tried
a turnaround jumper with 0.4 second to go, which didn’t fall as the visitors held on.
Thompson finished the night with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. On a night when Curry managed just 9 point on a 4 of 10 shooting, Jack chipped in with 20 for the Warriors, who got another prolific double-double
from David Lee – 22 points on a 50 percent shooting and a game high 13 rebounds.
Miami were again led by the sensational LeBron, who had his 25th consecutive game with 20 points or more. On the night, he scored 31 with 5 assists. Bosh was 9 of 14 from the floor for 21 point and also hauled down 13
rebounds, Dwyane had 14 while Ray Allen came off the bench to add 14 as well.
